Hakka Cultural Food Festival

day after i came back to Spore, i went to a "Hakka Cultural Food Festival" with my family. our main motive was to sample the traditional Hakka cuisine. heehee... for me, it was juz the perfect timing for me to taste all the dishes which i had been missing out for the past few mths. together with my Grandma, Dad, GrandUncle and GrandAuntie, Aunties, Cousin and niece, we had a feast @ the food fair. whahaha~!!!! i am totally satisfied!!!

organised by the clan association, there were alot of pple @ the festival. & most of them r speaking in the familiar dialect, Hakka which i have not been speaking for quite a long while. hahaha...

welcoming ceremony with the popular Chinese Lion Dance...

before the crowd enter...

my family members @ the festival...

look @ the crowd.. there were really alot of pple. at the end of the day, the coupons which r used to purchase the food r all sold out. this festival is a charity event which is raising funds for 同济医院. so all the purchases r done with the coupons. without any coupons, public r not able to purchase any of the food items.

one of the stall selling some fried bee hoon..

here r some of the Hakka Traditional Cuisine which we ate during the festival

Pig Stomach Soup with chicken feet... my all time favourite.. at the end of the day, i still prefer my grandma and mum's soup as theirs r more spicy which suits my taste.

Hakka "Soon Kueh"... puffy looking...

now then i noe wat is the difference between Hakka "soon kueh" and Teochew "soon kueh". the difference lies in the skin of the "soon kuehs". for Hakka, we use YAM to make the skin. for the Teochews, they use RICE to make the skin. generally, Hakkas r rather thrifty pple & usually, RICE is more expensive as compared to YAM. so Hakka pple chose the cheaper ingredient...

老鼠粉 with fried mince meat... Lynnette's favourite food of the day...

Glutinous Rice with peanuts and chinese sausages...

Pig Trotters with gravy..

2 different types of 算盘子 (Abacus Seeds)...

艾饭..

is actually some kind of vege kueh. this type of vege has a very strong taste and smell. usually my grandma will use the vege to boil soup and not everyone can take the smell of the soup, not to mention drinking it.

my niece, Lynnette & I @ the festival... see the tattoo on my arm... haha... cool leh..

Little Miss Cutie & Madam "Act Cute"! hahaha...

Lynnette & Grandma @ the MRT station..

Lynnette's favourite pose... the Aligator pose!

across Three Generations... 三代同堂

@ Dobby Ghaut MRT station, i saw tis very interesting advertisement of Magnum ice cream... see the mega size magnum ice cream? the 2 yellow Cautious signs in front of it state "Caution! Dark is Delicious!" & "Dark Chocolate Ahead". i tot this is pretty interesting and innovative... hahaha...
