an agreement between a 80yrs old Grandpa & his 2 grandchildren

as the title suggest, it is abt an agreement contract drawn up by my Grandpa and to be followed by my brother & I. heehee...

My Grandpa passed away when I was abt 11 yrs old. it has been more than 10 years since he passed away but i still remember every bit and pieces abt him vividly. indeed everyone in my family will always remember this very gentle, polite and humorous Father/Grandpa... :) and abt few years back when my aunt was clearing up some documents left in the old house, she came across this contract written by my Grandpa. the contract consists of he and his very chim chinese words and it was all written in Traditional Chinese which not many of us can recognised what he wrote. after reading thru it, we all had a very good laugh and till now, we will still talk abt it.

basically this contract was drawn up in Year 1992 when i was abt 8yrs old and my bro was abt 12yrs old. being young kids, both of us definitely prefered to go out to play most of the time rather than stay at home to finish up the boring homework. however, it is always not the perfect case in which kids can juz go out and play for the whole day after school. in order to keep us at home to complete our homework before going out to play, Grandpa had to come up with the idea to write a contract and made sure both of us sign on it. hahaha... sound funny? but it was a quite a useful and efficient method to make sure that both of us will follow the rules and regulations as stated. being a pri 2 kid, of cos i did not really understand the content of the contract. all i did was to follow my brother. since he put his name on it, so i juz followed suit to sign. futhermore, if we did not sign on the contract, we can jolly well forget abt going to play so we had no choice anyway. hahaha... & tat was how smart my Grandpa was.

**to have a clearer view of wat was written, u can click on the image for an enlarged view** (btw, is read from right to left. traditional chinese way of writing)

PS: i guess this is the most interesting contract i have ever seen so far... whahaha...

Japanese Summer Festival

last Sat, i met up with my friends from 2/4 to go to a Japanese Summer Festival. it was held @ the Japanese School @ Changi. for most of us, it was a long way for us to travel from the North to the East where the school is. furthermore it was a rainy day which made such long distance travelling even more dreadful. however, ALL of us still went ahead with our gathering. hahaha.. it was a great gathering with them as it had been a few mths since i last met up with them. & of cos with them around, i always have non stop laughter. even when we were queueing up for tickets in the heavy rain outside the school, we could still have fun... while waiting, we decided to pose for some photos with our limited supply of umbrella. there were 9 of us & we only have 3 umbrellas! so we had to squeeze and try to accommodate everyone under the umbrella.

Umbrella ONE: Ivy, Jun Wen (Ivy's BF) & Jas..

Umbrella TWO: Lian, Me & Jun..

Umbrella THREE: Shuwei, Shupei & Wen Hui..

after waiting for almost half an hr in the rain, the pple-in-charge finally opened up the gate and allowed the crowd to queue up along the sheltered link way. it was quite a BIG crowd queueing up for the tickets. as Shuwei said, some of the pple may have queue up for the tickets overnight. well, i tot there will be alot of pple but i nv expect such a BIG and crazy crowd...

taking along the sheltered linkway in the school...

look @ Jun.. happily showing a victory sign... well, of cos he is happy cos he is so DRY when most of us r NOT!

with Jun hogging the umbrella, i appeared to be NOT covered the umbrella.. when he tried to drain the water away on the umbrella, poor Shuwei had no where to hide so as a result, her back r all WET! so moral of story is: NEVER let Jun hold on to the umbrella in the rain if u do not wish to be wet! haha...

Shupei & Wen Hui with Shuwei's authentic looking fan. pretty leh... erm.. i mean the FAN. hahaha...

after getting the entrance ticket ($2), we had to queue up (yet again!) for the opening of the festival. so while queueing up, we did some self entertainment by taking photos again! whahaha... well, tis grp of frens of mine r pretty good in self entertaining ourselves...

Lian, Jas, Jun & I @ the entrance...

lovely and cute looking fans sponsored by the sponsors. given out by the volunteers while we were queueing up so we girls decided to take a pic with the FANS!!!

Ivy, Shupei & Shuwei with the cute looking fans...

Japanese Drum Performance...

signify the opening of the festival! hurray! the moment which most of us were waiting for... & were all eager for the end of the performance... whahaha...

there were many stalls selling all kinds of Japanese cuisines such as sushi, curry rice, unagi don... well, i guessed our main motive was to sample all the great food. so even though there were stalls selling some japanese toys and items, we did not really pay attention. heehee... all we care abt was FOOD! whahaha... indeed, we managed to try a great variety of food with the combined effort of queueing up, eating up and clearing up! :D

Lian, Me & Jas with the sushi sets...

Jun & Shuwei with the Japanese Muah-chee & sweet corn..

b4 we leave the place, let's take a group photo together!!!

so pple, r we going for the festival again next year? hahaha...

a week of activities...

some random updates from last week..

last Thursday, i went to try the dessert @ Paisley & Cream @ The Central. well, i went with quite high expectation as i was told that the shop serve pretty yummy dessert. in the end, i was rather disappointed with wat i had with my fren. maybe we shld try their cupcakes as they really look lovely and yummy. i shall save tat for the next time i go. as for the rest of the dessert, i tink i will give them a miss ah... haha... however, i still took some pretty nice photos of the dessert we ordered.

lemon cheesecake which is very lemon and less of cheese taste and texture...

bread and butter pudding... basically is warm pudding..

as for Friday, i met up with Huiying & Philip for dinner. whahaha... as i was watching the Finals for Olympics Table Tennis between China and Singapore, so i was late! thanks for their patience in waiting for me.. :D the dinner on friday fulfilled 2 of my cravings. i had the craving for baked rice & mud pie! so there we were @ NYDC, Wheelock Place. woohoo~!!!

my all time favourite, NYDC Jedi-muster mud pie... i love it!!!! yum~!

on Saturday, i forgo a chance to visit my relatives in Malaysia to go for a Career Fair @ Suntec with Fiona and Philip. well, job searching is more impt than going for the trip la. so i tink it was a wise choice, though i din get really alot from the career fair. i tink the consolation i had was the visit to Max Brenner @ Esplanade! i had been longing to go there but i juz did not had the chance. FINALLY!!! i went on Saturday! woohoo~!!!!

Espresso with Caramel... i like it very much. i am not someone who like espresso as is too thick for me yet tis espresso drink is juz nice for me!

chocolate struffle.. basically is some chocolate spoonge cake with some warm chocolate sauce in it... yummy~

chocolate brownie on a layer of butter biscuits... i like this combination. 口感 is juz rite!

after a fulfilling and satisfying high tea, we walked around Marina Square and when is abt dinner time, we r in search of food, yet again! hahaha... actually i have some craving for seafood but wat i looking for is those traditional seafood like chilli crab, butter prawns, steam fish. but still the seafood dinner we had @ MS was not too bad, can curb some of my craving...

rather BIG Oysters! but not for me.. so i can't comment on the freshness but actually to the 2 of them, the oysters were not really properly cleaned as they can still taste the sand. hahaha...

tis is suppose to be seafood basket. when it came, i was rather amazed. not the usual plate or a basket, instead is a metal bucket! hahaha...

fish & chips! rather oily...

salmon with teriyaki sauce... i was expecting some chips with it yet it came with mashed potatoes... hmm.. diff from the menu leh..

while i was buying present for my fren's daughter's 1st year old bday, 2 'big kids' were having fun @ the Lego table...

here's wat they built! a choo-choo train! whahaha...

on Sunday, i went to my fren's daughter's 1st year old bday. bday girl is so active. she made alot of noise and caught alot of our attention. i oso met another my fren's 1st year old baby girl. initially, my brother told me that tis baby girl is rather shy and may not like pple to carry her. oh well, it is a totally different experience for me. when i 1st saw her, i played with her for a while and when i tried to carry her, it was easy job. hahaha... she is a lovely baby with big eyes and chubby cheeks. there were a few other children running around tat day. juz nice for a big kid like me who juz enjoys playing with little children. ahhaha...

over the weekend, my cousin told us tat my little niece, Lynnette got HFMD. aiyooo... poor girl... she muz be very bored as she have to stay at home for 1 whole week. i guess she really hope to go out for a walk. on sat, she actually made a call to my house! hahaha.. i was quite amazed when i heard her voice over the phone. when she heard my voice, her 1st reaction was "Ah-Yee (auntie in chinese)". then after a while, i figured out tat she was playing with the phone and accidentally press on speed dial for my house. haha... when i went over on yesterday to take care of her, she was really excited to see me. bringing out all her toys and books to play with me. she looks good to me and so i am less worried for her illness now. juz hope she will get by tis whole week fast and good.

in fact, yesterday was a busy day. after taking care of Lynnette, i went back home to prepare for my dinner gathering with my pri sch frens. we went to Chinatown for dinner as i had the craving for hawker food! woohoo~!!! they r my best khakis for hawker food! 6 of us ordered claypot rice, sambal stingray, stir fry kang-kong, char kway teow, satay to share. after dinner, we went on for our dessert! whahaha... durian eating along the back alley! yummy~!!! had a very FULL dinner yesterday and it was a good catch up with my pri sch frens. so much so tat we did not rem to take any pics, only rem when is time for us to go home. hahaha...

after 48 long years...

.... we r finally on our way to our 2nd Olympics medal!!!!

as we all shld know, the journey to taking a medal from the Olympics is never easy. for Spore, it has always been a great challenge for our athletes. as of today.. we FINALLY made it!

@ abt 2.30pm, i tuned in to Channel 601 on SCV for the Semi-final match between Team Singapore and South Korea. i tot the whole match will be over by 5pm so i arranged to meet Huiying and Philip at 5pm. in the end, the duration of the whole match was much longer than i expected. the whole match only ended at abt 6.15pm... is almost 4hrs tough fight with the South Koreans. thru'out the game, i was screaming, cheering and worrying. i was really excited abt the match, so much so tat my grandma was attracted by my screaming and sat down to enjoy the game with me. whahahaha... it was a very close fight and many times during the game, i tot Team Singapore is going to lose! The South Koreans are absolutely brilliant. they r not only good in their skills, but also mentally strong. in each and every of the game, they r very determined to put up a good fight till the very end. of cos our players are brilliant too. i like the last match of singles very much. it was a deciding match as well as the most entertaining and challenging match. is a test of patience, tactics and alertness. it was seriously a narrow win for Team Singapore... however, no matter wat, it is still a winning moment for us. for now, all we can hope for is tat Singapore can perform as well as they can during the finals on Sunday. Singapore, Way to Go!!!

My Honours Graduation on 18 July 2008

18 July 2007, i received my Bachelor Degree in International Hotel and Tourism Management. 1 year later on 18 July 2008, i achieved my Honours Degree in International Hotel and Tourism Management. my journey as a student finally ended. though the final result is not as good i hope to be, i am still happy and glad tat i have come this far. as the picture below stated, i only managed a Second Class Lower Honours. i was really very upset when i 1st received the email notification from my advisor saying that i got a Honours Class 2B. during then, i was halfway thru my travel in Darwin. my mood was totally affected. i spoke to quite a few pple via sms, phone and msn. glad tat i have these pple with me during tat very moment. it gave me some form of reassurance and their advice made me feel much better. after talking to them, the thought of not attending the ceremony totally vanished. i am really glad tat i made the choice to attend the ceremony even when i am disappointed with the ultimate results. though my result is the not perfect one, my graduation ceremony is definitely a fruitful one with wishes from family and friends. further to that, i brought home with me a bag of precious memories with many photos taken at the various "hot-spots".
