the day when i was a Big Kid...

On every Sunday, little Lynnette will go to one of her favourite place. yeahz~! is GUG (@ United Square) which is a learning centre for little kids like Lynn. today it was Lynn's last class @ GUG & it was also the end-of year party. so every kid will have to bring along a gift for the gift exchange and the parents will need to prepare some simple snacks for the potluck party. As Seow Wei Jie Jie needed to go to office to finish up some work & Lynn's Daddy dun really enjoy such party, I had the great opportunity to accompany Lynn thru the 1.5hrs lesson.

in order to prepare some simple snacks for the party, i woke up early in the morning to do some shopping. Seow Wei Jie Jie told me the items she would like to buy as snacks for the party, so i juz followed her instructions and got the following items:
- Ginger Breadman
- Mini Tart (with Chocolate fillings)
- Mini Donuts
- M&M Chocolates
along the way, i happened to see the little umbrella decorative items @ NTUC, so i tot maybe it would be nice to add on some decoration. here it is, tat's the end product of wat we bought to the party:

very colourful, rite? hahaha...
well, kids r attracted to colour items & our target audience r the KIDS!

upon reaching the learning centre, Lynn became so hyperactive and noisy. for me, it was my 1st time attending the class with her. as for her, she was so familiar with the procedure. so immediately after she took off her shoes, she sat next to the teacher who were stationed @ the entrance to assist the kids in doing some simple disinfection before entering the class. there were many balloons, balls and toys lying around on the mat in the middle of the classroom. after settling down, Lynn & I started to play with the toys and balloons while waiting for other kids to arrive. there were many kids running around & of cos all of them were accompanied by either their Daddy or Mummy. haha.. honestly, this is my 1st time attending such kids' enrichment class as an adult. in my very vague memory, i rem i attended some party celerations as a young girl accompanied by aunties. & now i am an Ah Yee already. so here i am, accompanying my little niece to her class. haha... with kids running around me & looking @ how Lynn enjoys herself make me feel very excited. it really started my day in a great way!

upon reaching, before Lynn's hair was all messed up after running around... hahaha..

Lynn & the pool of balloons, balls, toys, kids & parents! hahaha...

class started @ abt 12pm after putting the toys away. Lynn is a very smart girl who knew to took initiative to put the balloons away in the black trash bag upon hearing the instruction from her teachers. Bravo, Lynn! the 1st thing to do before class start proper is basic greetings. the kids were taught to greet their fellow classmates, all the Daddys & Mummys around, the teachers and the only Aunt (tat's ME!). followed on, the teachers led the kids in singing different type of songs, doing some simple number calculation, recognising different alphabets and learning new words. Lynn managed to follow some instructions pretty well and fast but she could get distracted by her happenings around her easily. when tat happens, i need to grab her attention by doing the actions or singing the songs with her. hahaha.. yes! Big kid playing with little kid!
the proper lesson ended at abt 1230pm as it was time to party! the teachers divided the food brought by parents evenly and placed them on small paper plates. kids sat down on the chairs to enjoy their food while we adults started to bring out all the cameras to start snapping at different angles. as mentioned, there were a gift exchange session. so shortly after enjoying the food, the gift exchange session started. Lynn picked on the number "7" which was a small rectangular gift wrapped with Toys 'R' Us wrapper. other than the pressie from the gift exchange, the school prepared small pack of gift for the kids too. & Lynn seems more interested in that small pack of gift rather than the pressie. haha... party ended at abt 1pm & we headed for lunch. however, along the way we met up with some "obstacles". the kiddy rides allocated at different places in the mall attracted Lynn's attention and whenever she saw a cartoon character she could rem, she would wanna sit on it. i noe it was impossible to forbid her to sit on the rides and i did not want to disappoint her so i chosen to give in to her but with a limit. at 1st, i tried to negotiate with her by giving her some time limit but it din really work. so i tried a 2nd way with a countdown matter. when 2 of us started to do a countdown of "10" together, it works! hahaha... when we reached to the count of 10, Lynn knew tat she must get down & without arguing, she slowly get off the ride. I was really impressed by Lynn's sensible action. btw, when i said tat she wanna sit on the ride, it means juz sitting on it without putting any coins or money to operate the ride. though Lynn was a little cranky during lunch & refused to eat the food, i still tink is okay. cos she has been such wonderful girl for the day. i am glad tat Lynn enjoyed herself as i enjoyed myself very much. hahaha...
photos to share:

all the kids seated down for the party~ yummy food... there were Eclairs, fishballs, nuggets, Gingerbread Man, Mini tarts, Mini donuts, Mini Swiss Rolls...

Lynn trying out the taste of the strawberry eclair which i tink she din like it as she did not eat it. in fact, from tat whole plate of food, Lynn only ate the 2 fishballs & finished up all the M&M chocolates. as for the rest of the food, other than feeding me with a piece of nugget, she did not eat any of them. haha..

Lynn enjoying her favourite fishballs...

Lynn trying out the nuggets but she din like it... so there it went, into my mouth instead!

bubbles... woooo... but where is our little princess? haha.. she went to wash her hands with her Daddy.. aww, she missed out on the short bubbles blowing session...

see wat i mean by Lynn can get distracted easily. juz as everyone was listening to the teachers' instruction attentively, Lynn was distracted by the uncle (in white t-shirt seated beside us) who juz came into the classroom.
