Day 1: Purlingbrook Falls, Springbrook National Park & Glow Worms Cave

is after exam & we shall have FUN & more FUN!!! Road Trip up on the schedule... 3 days 2 nights Mount Tamborine Road Trip with Fiona, Philip, Charlotte & Isaac was simply amazing and awesome. we had so so much fun playing the activities, exploring the nature and driving around. of cos along the way there were non-stop laughing moments with crappy jokes & crazy photo-taking poses. i shall write less and let u guys enjoy the photos instead. here it goes:

118m high.. Purlingbrook Falls, one of the must see place in Queensland. esp after heavy rainfall, the water flowing down the fall will create a very amazing scene... the day when we were there, there was only light shower in the morning.

HOWEVER, when it became Fiona & Char, it was always a one-sided love... poor Char having to tolerate "dao" Fiona...

we r @ the Queensland and New South Wales Border... seriously a border with a gate (broken) separating the 2 states. as with day light saving now, if we go thru to NSW, we will experience a time difference... heehee... here we r @ New South Wales State Border...

back to homeground, we r at the Queensland State Border.. i still prefer tis side of the border... grass r greener, pple r friendlier, air is fresher and life is BETTER!!! Queensland!

Life after exam...

WOOHOO~!!! i finished exam liao! hahaha... & look @ the timing of tis blog... is 6am in the morning. well, i can't sleep ah. my body clock still haven tune back, so woke up so early. after the paper yesterday, my only thought is to let go and enjoy 1st. i dun wanna care abt the exam or results or watever 1st. let me enjoy hols 1st then worry in 2 weeks time when the results will be out then. now i juz wanna let go and enjoy my break before everything gets busy again...

after my paper yesterday, I went to city with Fiona. it was abt 3 weeks' time since i last step into a place with "civilisation". ever since revision for exam, my life had been revolving in my little world of notes and more notes.. facing nutting but notes, books and myself.. OH YA! & my best study buddy, Bee Bee. so yesterday i was kinda excited. i tink i was crazy along the way though my craziness is not constant... rite, Fiona? i was tired la.. nv sleep soundly for so many days. so my excitement is on and off. hahaha... after eating my fav Hanaichi curry Rice, we went around to shop for things. guess wat, i actually bought something out of the shopping yesterday. not really a spree as i muz tink for long term and stay as focus as possible on wat i buy. is a long way down these 2 mths of holidays with so many different opportunities to head down to the most sinful yet shopping paradise, Harbour Town & with the long anticipating visit from Ms Jasmin Neo, shopping is one of the main attraction on the itinerary. so for the long term consideration, i muz spread out my spending! hahaha... yesterday was purely for SPORT SHOES! to replace my old pair which has a hole in the sole liao. heehee... satisfied with my purchase cos the more i look at it, the more i like it... :D

Nike Sport Shoes... i like it very much.. unusual from my previous Nike shoes as tis is NOT blue in colour! hahaha...


2nd purchase of the day... a pair of earrings.. is a weird shaped earrings with 退色colour. haha... but i quite like it as is unique...

okok... now life after exam is still BUSY, although is busy with FUN!!! as wat Tess always said "ur life after exam is always busy, even busier during semester or exam period. and u juz dun need to sleep during hols oso." hahaa.. well, with the list of tings to do as follow, sleep seems like a faraway thing from me again...

- trip planning for my Perth hols next week

- trip planning for upcoming road trip to Mount Tamborine tis weekend

after all these, probably i can sleep well... BUT by then, summer class will start.. haiz... heck 1st ah, let me enjoy watever i can 1st. whahaha... everything will go along... PERFECTLY well!

Yesterday, Fiona, Charlotte, Philip & I went around uni to take some photos of the last Spring in our Aussie studies life. with the ending of Spring, flowers start to drop off from the trees. the very lovely scene of Jacaranda (purple flowers) can no longer be seen. however we managed to capture some other lovely "flowery" scenes as well as some really candid shots and also some very loving couple scenes. heehee... here we go, our photo taking around uni...

i like tis whole background with the combination of the tree and the building... but tis is nOt a very good place to take photo as there is a challenge to jump up tat uplifted pavement.. poor Char.. but the photo effect was good and worthwhile for the effort, isn't it?

intro of new dish.. Tom Yum Bee Hoon

gloomy day with weird weather.. started to rain as early as 6am when i was wide awake for the whole nite due to the "owl" routine tat screwed up my biological clock now. tried to sleep at 6am but juz can't seems to get my eyes shut and mind off the books so end up i made myself breaky and sat by to have some "morning shows" (watever i can find from my harddisk, i juz watched to get by time). when i finally felt tired enough to sleep, it was 9am. gosh... i dun wanna be like tis... i wanna lead the normal life of sleeping at nite and doing work in the day. nOw i am NOT sleeping at nite and during the day, i am TOO guilty to sleep long. 4 more days and such lifestyle shld be gone.. at least for quite a while. ENDURE!!!!

well, today i had a bit of upset and cranky mood. not feeling tat well. muz be the weather... and the studies... and some overwhelming issues. nevertheless, i have some great news to share still. i was told where my temporary accommodation in the college will be. mmm.. seems like i got one of the ensuite. i am praying hard tat it is the ensuite tat i got so tat i can accommodate all my stuff and 2 pretty ladies who will be staying at my place at least for a few weeks. Ms Fiona Tan, have u decided if u wanna come over and "jaga" my room while i am away in Perth? & Ms Jasmin Neo, if we have a bigger room, u dun have to squeeze in a small and pathetic room with me liao! hahaha...

anyway, another thing tat made my day is COOKING! i tried a new dish today. something i nv tried before. a fren of mine suggested to use Tom Yum Paste to fry the bee hoon previously. so today i digged out the Tom Yum Paste (given by Lian for my xmas pressie last yr) to fry my last stack of beehoon. need to clear the food in the cupboard ASAP before i move out ah... the new way of cooking was good. i quite like it... is rather yummy and refreshing. Grace tasted a mouthful. heehee.. how was it, Grace?

tis is NOT the Tom Yum Beehoon. is juz some vegetarian bee hoon i fry few days ago when i had some leftover chinese mushrooms and carrots. it looked like those Vegetarian Beehoon my grandma loves to eat. hahaha...


tis is then the Tom Yum Bee Hoon. i tried to take a clearer photo but it juz failed. tis is the best i can get. some mince pork and vege and dried shrimp with the tom yum paste. very different style and i like it. sour sour taste... next time i shall add some carrots to make it taste a bit sweeter. heehee...

alrighty! shall take my shower and prepare my battle field for the nite. heehee...

1st of all, let me say a BIG BIG THANK YOU to my dearest les partner, FIONA TAN!!!! THANK U for this lovely dinner and dessert... today my dinner was so relaxing. no cutting of garlic, no plucking of vege, no slicing of meat as i DID NOT have to cook dinner today! Fiona was my "ah sum" today! hahaha... okok.. dun be mean to her. she was kind enough to make use of her super duper FREE time to cook dinner for us, poor us who r studying for exam at tis very moment. be it 1 paper or 4 papers, we r studying for exams lor.. so all very ke lian... haha...

since there is a person who is so FREE, free enough to grow "mushrooms" on her hand and feet, dun waste it la. do some good deed. "one Act of Random Kindness @ a time". today cook for tis, tomolo cook for tat. whahaha... juz make sure all edible and dun let us run toilet. :D

anyway, let me intro wat was on the menu:

Main Dish: Fiona Tan's very own - Omurice

tis become her signature dish liao... hahaha... looks yummy leh...


how abt inside? is full of Fried Rice of chicken and carrot. yummilicious~!!!!

on top of main dish, there was dessert! woohoo~!!! full course meal! hahaha...

Dessert: Strawberry Riccotta Tart

very good hor.. meant for me yet use strawberry. i dun eat strawberries lor!!! but i finished the whole thing ah! well, if i am someone who eat strawberry, i will love tis dessert. for me nOw, is still okay lah... the sweet sweet and sour sour taste is very refreshing & the crust is very crispy. hahaha... i like tat!

Overall rating for these 2 dishes, 8 out of 10. deduct 2 marks. 1 mark becos lack of some efficiency. customer here complain hungry liao, still NO sight of food. haiyoooo... another mark becos tis Chef Fiona Tan lack of patience. how can ask customer to "diam diam". hahaha... "厨师要有厨的。。。" heehee...

BUT then i will add 2 bonus points here... for her willingness to cook for us, FRIENDS. if we r customers, she will score 8 but we r FRIENDS, GOOD Friends, so she score 10 out of 10! woohoo~!!! Perfect 10!

woohoo... Iris' kitchen is at work again... yeahz!!! in the midst of exam, i am craving for yummy food! & honestly speaking, i ate really alot this few days. studying for exam make one eat alot and grow fat as there is minimum amount of exercise, other than the hands. hahaha...

anyway, nutting can stop yummy food. went thru my fridge and cupboard in the kitchen. trying to find watever food i need to clear as i only have like abt 2 more weeks in this house before summer hols arrive and before i need to move to temporary accommodation.

so wat food am i gonna introduce? mmm..

Dish 1 - 卤鸡翅膀&卤蛋&香菇

woooo... tis is the dish i am craving for... but then i tink there r room for improvement. the chicken wings seems a bit bland. need to marinate before i boiled it ah. hmmmm... remember!!!

Dish 2 - 东粉 & Vege with Carrots


usually Grandma use "mang guang" (fillings for popiah) to cook this dish. but i can't get tat here so i need to replace with vege. and i decided to add carrot to add colour and taste. well, i kinda like tis dish cos 清清淡淡...

Dish 3 - Sardines with Onions

canned food... i noe.. very very long nv eat sardines liao. before it expired, i better eat it up! hahaha...

okok... really over eat ah.. muz eat less for the next few days... whahaha...

Spice Buddies.. tis is for u guys..

during the times when things juz get out of hand for me, they stood by my side. not that they are always giving me advices promptly but i juz noe when the whole world turn against me, they won't. they can be full of complains, craps and grumbles abt my behaviours, actions and words. but ultimately, they will b the only few who will give in to my unreasonable-ness and overbearing-ness and giving me support in watever way i need.

during the times when i have happy moments to share, i would love to have them by my side and be part of my happiness. with them around, my happiness will be double happiness. & their laughters juz add on extra life and sunshine to my already brightened up mood. & they r juz tat few who will go with my craziness when i gets happy and excited.

we had known each other for 10 years. i am TRUTHFULLY thankful that i managed to meet them back then. if not for them, i would not know wat real friendship is all abt. it is not abt u having alot of frens from everywhere. it is really abt u having true frens that will stay on with u, walk the road with u and be with u not physically all the time but mentally all the while for 10 long years. as we grow up, we r busy with our own life. but never have we forgotten the existence of one another. in our heart, each of us still stands an impt position, so dear and precious. we dun express it out but i noe we do care alot for one another.

Lady Luck may not b shining on our side at tis moment for there r unhappy issues happening in each of our life. but pls hold the faith and belief there tat sunshine is coming soon... coming rite up to our way real soon... let's brace thru the sickening and idiotic moments of our life together. watever is falling on us, let embrace them together and make the best out of them. we r the Spice buddies, we r capable to do it together, rite?

Lian, Jas, Lin and Jun... thank u very much for making an impact in my life. i said tis many many times via my bloggy.. hahaha.. still i juz wanna make my point again. u guys r really the precious ones in my life. so watever unhappiness we r encountering in our very own life now, we muz be strong in our own way to get thru it together, k? it juz hurts to see my precious ones fall, so pls dun fall cos once any of u fall, i will fall too. let's hang on! slowly.. steadily... rem.. slow and steady win the race.. :D *mushy speech here ah...*

DAMN IT!!!! i had bee praying and anticipating and yearning and finally is going to be REAL.... YET all these will not b enjoyed by me... how sad can tat be!!!!

YES! Jay Chou is going to hold a concert in Spore in Jan, 18 and 19 Jan. the concert i had been waiting for so loooonnnnggggggg... BUUUUTTTTT i cannot go!!!! SIANZZZZZZ ah.... i prayed so hard for him to go to Spore but i din pray for him to go when i am NOT in spore ah! really very yucky news ah! I WANNA GO to HIS CONCERT!!!! but i have to face reality. i have to rem tat i need to stay in Brisbane to get my thesis half done before i can get back home for data collection. so tat means i can't be back by 18 or 19 Jan!!!! argh!!!!!! y muz life b so cruel to me????

NOW i pray hard... pray hard tat my frens can go to his concert and so they can share with me how SPECTECULAR and MAGNIFICENT it is. i can forsee everyone present at the concert having a SUPER HIGH and FUN time... shouting "Jay Chou", "杰伦"... then ENCORE & Jay will juz sing & sing and play piano and some times tok crap and change lyrics... gosh~!!!!

Lunch Time...

for lunch, i met Joyce and Cardy @ a Mexican Restaurant for some yummilicious Mexican food. woohoo~!!! it was Cardy's bday too. Happy Birthday, Cardy! hope u had a great bday today! the food is really delicious. i had a chicken combination set. it was really yummy. it had been a long long time since i last ate mexican food. the taste and flavouring is juz so so strong... is very filling with the strong flavouring and gravy. after the round of main dish, we still have a bday cake! heehee... earlier Joyce & I went to Indooroo to buy a cake for Cardy. well, Ms Joyce tot we can keep it a secret from Cardy till the end. but the cake is big leh.. cannot keep as secret and surprise lor. well, at least Cardy played along. so it was not tat bad lah.. haha... & oso the cake is not too bad. usually i dun really fancy tiramisu cake but this cake tasted just rite. so lunch went really well. see for some evidence as follow:

Dinner Time

after lunch, i went back home. tinking of meeting Jia Ning & Claudia for dinner and movie. ended up i was late so we had to postpone our meeting time and change to dinner 1st, movie later. when i got home, there were still time. so i showered again. haha... 2 showers in like abt 6 hrs. cos is damn damn hot ah!!!! so finally at abt 5pm, we set off to the city. we were discussing where to eat so i suggested JoJo's. when we got there, almost every table was reserved. after searching for a while, we got a table! we ordered our food. then while waiting for the food to be served, we chit chatted. chatted abt alot alot alot of things. 3 pple, 3 different countries, 3 different cultures.. but we can really click off very well. chat abt uni stuff, friends, relationships stuff and general stuff. it was really fun and interesting chatting with the girls. & we chatted so much that we din realised the movie time was up! so we decided to skip the movie and just continue our chat. haha... we sat there from abt 6pm and chatted till abt 9pm. ambience was rite, food were yummy and company were GREAT!!! so my dinner was as satisfying as my lunchie... yeahz!!

guess wat? Gelatissimo Ice Cream Shop was still OPEN!!! so we went to grab an ice cream each for our dessert. Claudia had mango (it was sweet yet the sweetness was not too over)... Jia Ning had tiramisu (the very tiramisu taste)... Mine was ferrero rocher with chocolate (i love it! cos is not too rich and is just nice!!!)...

the nite is still young but we got to get home to study ah... though we only have 1 paper each, still it is EXAM!!! haha... & after such happy and satisfying day, i shld work doubly hard for studies ah... YES!!! i will!
